PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the amount of control data which need to be stored in a host computer and to reduce the labor, time and cost for updating the control data in a control data managing method for a control system equipped with a digital controller which is used by being connected to a control object mechanism at need and is programmable, and a host computer connected to the digital controller. SOLUTION: Control data needed to execute a control sequence are divided into control data wherein the respective characteristics of control object mechanisms CTD1 to CTDn are described and data wherein the control sequence is described, the former is stored in a control object mechanism data file to be stored in a host computer 12 and the latter is stored in a control sequence data file to be stored in the host computer 12. The host computer 12 reads the control data out of those data files and properly sets digital controllers CTR1 to CTR3 to execute the control sequence.
