A bale wrap retaining apparatus for a paper pulp bale wrapping machine has a bale wrap retainer device (10) movable up and down between a raised position, in which the retainer device (10) is spaced upwardly from a bale (12), and a lowered position, in which the retainer device (10) is in gripping engagement with the bale (12). The retainer device (10) has retainer members (16) engageable with opposite sides of the bale (12) in retaining engagement with portions of a folded wrapper on the bale (12). A track (28) extends along and above a path of travel of the bale (12) and a suspension (30) between the retainer device (10) and the track (28), supports the retainer device (10) from the track (28) for movement along the track (28) to a folder (49) and a tying machine (53) while maintaining the retaining engagement of the retainer members with the wrapper. |
