PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical equipment constituted so that the existing range of a prescribed area such as a focus detection area in the observation image plane of a finder can be confirmed without obstructing the observation of an object and the like executed through the finder. SOLUTION: This optical equipment is provided with a prescribed-area display means which is set for displaying the plural areas (focus detection area, for example) 80-90 in the observation image plane of the finder and which can be switched to a display state and a non-display state. Besides, it is provided with an existing range display means 99 for displaying the existing ranges of the plural prescribed areas obtained when the prescribed-area display means is set in the non-display state in the observation image plane of the finder.
