Photographic element and process for its use

Disclosed is a photographic element comprising a light sensitive silver halide emulsion layer having in association therewith at least one dye- forming coupler of Formula (1a): wherein: R1 is an alpha-branched alkyl group with greater than 10 carbon atoms; R5, R6, R7, and R8 are each independently a hydrogen atom or a substituent; Z is a hydrogen atom or a group which can be split off by the reaction of the coupler with an oxidized color developing agent. The element exhibits improved dye light stability.
