摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical recording medium which is capable of accurately outputting a synchronizing signal resulting from discontinuous regions periodically formed in a groove or a land even when the widths of the groove and the land become narrow. SOLUTION: The magneto-optical recording medium 10 is constituted of a planar structure in which the groove 1 having the discontinuous regions 2, 2,... formed for a prescribed period, for instance, for every 120 μm and the land 3 similarly having the discontinuous regions 4, 4,... formed for every 120 μm are alternately arranged. Then the positions where the discontinuous regions 2 and the discontinuous regions 4 are formed, are different; the discontinuous regions 4 of the land 3 are disposed in a position corresponding to approximately midway between the continuous regions 51, 52, 53,... of the groove 1, while the discontinuous regions 2 of the groove 1 are disposed in a position corresponding to approximately midway between the continuous regions 61, 62,... of the land 3. Further, the widths of the groove 1 and the land 3 are 0.4 μm or thereabouts.
