PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magneto-optical head device easy to float even though an optical head and a magnetic head are integrally constituted, and capable of recording or reproducing a signal by the evanescent light using the near-field transmission. SOLUTION: In the magneto-optical head device for recording and/or reproducing the signal against a magneto-optical recording medium by a laser beam and a magnetic field, the magneto-optical head 5 provided with the optical area 51 emitting the evanescent light to the magneto-optical recording medium and the magnetic area 52 consisting of a 2-layer thin film coil 521 for impressing the magnetic field on the magneto-optical recording medium, and an objective lens 4 for converging the laser beam on the end surface 12 where the optical area 51 of the magneto-optical head 5 is confronted with the magneto-optical recording medium, are included. Thus, by the magneto-optical head 5, the evanescent light LE is emitted from the end surface 12 of the optical area 51, and also the magnetic field is impressed on the magneto-optical recording medium by the thin film coil 521. |
