PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve convenience for users by providing a voice mail function by transmitting a voice taken from a LAN dedicated telephone set to a mail server under the control of a server in an existent LAN telephone system. SOLUTION: When voice mail transmission information and transmission destination number information designating a LAN dedicated telephone set 5-2 (extension number 102), for example, are received from a LAN dedicated telephone set 5-1 connected through a LAN cable 3 and hub 4 to a server 1 to be functioned as a gate keeper in the LAN telephone system, this server 1 takes the voice succeedingly transmitted from the LAN dedicated telephone set 5-1, converts that voice to a voice file and transmits electronic mail, to which the voice file is added, to a mail address corresponding to the transmission destination number of a mail server 2 later.
