PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress files divisionally as archive files based upon a specified file as an upper limit by optimizing a combination of compression object files by minimizing the sizes and the number of plural compressed files. SOLUTION: Prior to file compression, a user specifies a compression object file IN1, a compressed file name IN2, a compressed file capacity upper-limit value IN3, and an optimization switch IN4 as input conditions. Then the compression object file IN1 is compressed and when the compressed file upper-limit value IN3 is specified, a file compression optimizing process P1 calculates the file size of the compression object file IN1 after compression in consideration of the upper-limit value IN3 so that the file capacity and the number of the generated compressed file IN2 becomes minimum, thereby performing the combination optimization of the file compression. Consequently, file compression can be performed divisionally as archived files based upon a specified file size as an upper limit. |
