PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent obliqueness from becoming large, even if an original in an oblique state passes through the carrying means of different carrying speeds. SOLUTION: For this image reader, an image read sensor 10 and a scanning roller 13 are abutted, so as to make pressurizing force at the center part of a width direction orthogonal to the carrying direction of the original D larger than the pressurizing force at both end parts, the moment generated due to the difference in the carrying forces of a paper feed roller and of the scanner roller 13 by the original D obliquely carried by the nip of the image read sensor 10 and the scanning roller 13 is reduced, and the enlargement of the obliqueness is prevented.
