PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain an automatic answering telephone set that can record even an automatic recording message from a person other than specific people who are registered in advance. SOLUTION: This automatic answering telephone set is provided with a message recording means 14 that records an automatic recording message, an identification data registration means 17 that registers in advance specific identification data, identification data detection means 10, 12 that detect identification data received from a public line with the automatic recording message, and a 1st controller 10 that records the automatic recording message to the message recording means 14, when the identification data detected by the identification data detection means 10, 12 are compared with the specific identification data registered in the identification data registration means 17 and they do not match and reproduces the recording message from the message recording means 14.
