<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prepare a latex emulsion in which no sediment exists. SOLUTION: (i) A liq. compsn. contg. a surfactant of diphenyl oxide disulfonate and water is provided. (ii) Preliminary reactions including the emulsification of a polymerizable reagent consisting of a monomer, a chain transfer agent, water, diphenyl oxide disulfonate, a surfactant and an arbitrary initiator are carried out at a low temp. to form a monomer emulsion. (iii) A mixture of part of the monomer emulsion and an arbitrary free radial initiator is subjected to aq. emulsion polymn. to prepare a seed particle latex. (iv) The remaining monomer emulsion and an arbitrary free radical initiator are added to the seed particles.</p> |
