PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve little cleaning effect caused by insufficiency of the relative speed of a head and a cleaner member, in cleaning the rotary head, and to prevent the local wearing of the cleaner member. SOLUTION: An arm 6 and a clutch gear 11 are rotatably supported with an arm shaft 3 which is caulked on a base plate 2 fixed on the upper base of a drum in a VTR. The cleaner member 9 is glued to a cleaner gear 10 supported with a roller shaft 8 at the tip end of the arm 6. At the cleaning of head, a motor 4 attached to the base plate 2 rotates, which is transmitted to a motor pinion 16, the clutch gear 11, a timing belt 15, and a cleaner gear 10, with the cleaner 9 rotationally driven. Meantime, through a frictional force between a clutch 12 and the arm 6 by the pressure of a compression coil spring 13, the clutch gear 11 rotates the arm 6 in the direction of the arrow B against the tensile force of a return spring 17, pressing the cleaner member 9 to a rotary head 20a. The cleaner member 9 performs cleaning by rotating in the direction nearly vertical to the moving direction of the rotary head 20a.
