PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To eliminate the problem of the stripe-like display unevenness of a two-line simultaneously driven LCD of a high aperture ratio and to improve the display quality by constituting the device so as to execute display by turning switching element on and impressing signal voltages to drain lines in synchronization therewith. SOLUTION: A scanning signal having a selection period of two horizontal periods is impressed simultaneously to two lines and the scanning is executed with a deviation in two lines each in the state that the four lines are selected at all times. The second line is affected by a parasitic capacitance at the moment when the scanning signals S3, S4 of the third and fourth lines rise in, for example, the horizontal period H1 and the pixel voltage P2 thereof is fluctuated. During this horizontal period H1, the scanning signals S2 (S1) are impressed in succession and a (TFT) which is the switching element is turned on and, therefore, the fluctuation-component of the pixel voltage is annihilated during this time. The horizontal period H1 ends and the scanning signals S1, S2 rise, by which the writing of the first and second lines is normally completed at target values V1, V2.
