PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable telephone set by which the occurrence of sound noise is prevented. SOLUTION: A received signal strength indicator RSSI detection section 124 of this portable telephone set detects a reception level of a communication signal received through a communication slot and a reception level of a control signal of other base station received through other slot from start of communication till end of communication and a comparison discrimination section 182 discriminates whether or not communication quality of the control signal is excellent based on the respective reception level of the communication signal and the control signal and a CPU 184 conducts processing of communication channel changeover when the section 182 discriminates the quality to be excellent.
