PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To relatively inexpensively form a mask for pattern exposure of a large size and to prevent the higher cost of color filter production by using large-sized substrate glass welded in the portions which are non-pattern parts of the boudary parts of plural color filter patterns formed by multi-imposition layout. SOLUTION: Plural sheets of glass substrates of a mask for pattern exposure of a small size are butted against each other and are welded in such a manner that the non-pattern parts of the mask patterns are weld zones 3 to a larger size. The welding is executed by an oxyhydrogen burner (about 2000 deg.C). The joint part surfaces are subjected to a grinding treatment by a surface grinding device after the welding, by which the differences in level of the surfaces are eliminated. If the substrates are formed in such a manner, the slight joint traces may be confirmed in the joint parts 3 but the surface smoothness and the flatness over to entire part of the joined substrates may be finished to a level free from problems. As a result, the many color filters on the glass substrate of a 1-meter square may be produced while the drastic increase of the production cost of the mask 1 for pattern exposure is decreased. |
