PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make feasible of logarithm compression of optical signal in a simple circuit without operational amplifier at all per photoelectric conversion element. SOLUTION: In a photoelectric converter, the emitter potential of one bipolar transistor out of two pairs 7, 8 with mutual bases connected to each other is fixed to a specific potential so that the base potential may be specified for running a current proportional to an optical signal current or optical signal current flow rate as an emitter current. The emitter potential of the other bipolar transistor is connected to a capacitor so as to take out the voltage or charge represented by the capacitor as the optical signal.
