PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the abnormal temperature rise of a heating roller by abutting an abutting member facing the paper no-passing area of the paper having a size smaller than that of the paper of fixable maximum size to a heating roller or a pressure roller at the time of fixing the smaller paper, and to obtain a uniform fixing state when using the paper of the maximum size. SOLUTION: This fixing device has a heating roller 10 provided with a heating body and a pressure roller 11 pressurized by the heating roller 10, wherein abutting members 12a, 12b and 12c are installed so as to come in contact with and separate from the pressure roller 11. For fixing the paper having a size smaller than that of the paper of the fixable maximum size by the both rollers 10 and 11, springs 13a which abut the abutting members 12a facing the paper no-passing area of this small paper to the pressure roller 11 are installed.
