PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent deformation of contact parts of contacts at the time of fitting, and to grant a sufficient contact pressure, even in a small and narrow- pitch connector. SOLUTION: In a receptacle connector R, plural receptacle contacts 70 having tuning fork-shaped female contact parts 71 are held in a line by a receptacle side holding member 60. In a plug connector P, plural plug contacts 40 having male contact parts 41 to be inserted into the female contact parts 71 are held in a line by a plug side holding member 10. Both the connectors P, R capable of fitting to each other constitute a male-and-female fitting type connector. The plug side holding member 10 has a reinforcing part 12 extending along one side, faces of the male contact parts 41 of the plug contacts 40. When both the connectors P, R are fittingly connected, the male contact parts 41 and the reinforcing part 12 are inserted integrally into the female contact parts 71 so that both the contacts 40, 70 are electrically connected.
