<p>An oral anti-plaque composition in the form of a gel or paste dentifrice, liquid dentifrice, a liquid mouthwash, lozenge or chewing gum, which composition is substantially free of pyrophosphate agent against plaque formation, consists of a vehicle for oral application and a substantially water insoluble non-cationic antibacterial agent. The said vehicle contains an antibacterial efficacy supporting agent of a molecular weight in the range of about 100 to 1,000, 000. The said agent contains at least one acidic functional group with a deliver-enhanced activity for assisting the said antibacterial agent to be delivered to oral tooth and gum surfaces in the mouth cavity. It further contains at least one organic group with a retention-enhanced activity for assisting the said antibacterial agent to be attached upon oral tooth and gum surfaces in the mouth cavity, whilst the AEA agent contains various monomers, oligomers, homopolymers and copolymers.</p> |
