The holder comprises a tube (3) with a sliding clamp part (A) at its bottom end for securing to a rising tubular part (9) of the mobility aid, and at its top end there is another clamp part for securing to the far end of the sun shade or umbrella shaft. The two clamp parts are operated by a threaded shaft rotated using a lever (10) so that the two parts can be locked together tightly with minimum force. The tube is made from a lightweight material with reasonable strength and rigidity. The two clamp parts comprise a pair of plates (7) that can be moved together or apart, the threaded shaft preferably being mounted in the clamp part furthest from the lever.
