The wiper mechanism with alternate linear wiping comprises a guide and driving carriage (22) which is mounted to slide relative to the vehicle bodywork. The carriage carries a proximate end (28) of a wiper arm (24) the distal end of which carries a scraper. The arm proximate end is carried by a driving head (26) mounted on the carriage.
