[Also in Division H2] A method of providing a tape cable 10 with a connector comprises the steps of mechanically removing the insulation from one face at one end of the cable, so as to expose the conductors thereunder, wrapping this cable end around a mandrel 20 so that the exposed conductors 12 face outwardly, and moulding plastics material e.g. epoxy resin, around the cable and mandrel to form a connector body 26, the mould being so designed that the connector body comprises openings 28 over portions of said exposed conductors 12. The terminal may take the form of a male plug, as shown, or a female socket (34, Fig. 5, not shown). Injection or liquid cast moulding may be employed. |
