The invention relates to a method and device (1) for forming a workpiece (2) by means of internal high pressure in a closed, internal high pressure forming tool (3). The workpiece (2) is expanded as a result of internal high fluidic pressure produced by a pressure generator and rests against the engraving of the forming tool (3). The workpiece (2) and the forming tool form friction partners in the contact areas. In order to improve safety during the internal high pressure forming process of the workpiece (2) and to extend the limits of said process, at least one of the two friction partners is oscillated by means of an oscillator while the forming occurs.
