An incinerator (10) for medical waste is supported on a conveyor mechanism (16, 18) comprising a unit including a hopper (22), a fire chamber (28), the fire chamber (28) being coupled to the hopper (22) via an opening (30), and a chute (24). A scrubber tank (44T) is provided, and includes a rotatable scrubber (44), a conveyor conduit (82), a vacuum pump (42) for suction of ash from the fire chamber (28) through the conveyor conduit (82) to the scrubber tank (44T). A water tank (50) is juxtaposed to the scrubber tank (44T), with the interiors of the tanks (44T, 50) coupled together for supplying water to the scrubber tank (44T) while the scrubber (44) is rotated for mixing the ash into a slurry (54). A pump (56) is coupled to the scrubber tank (44T) via an extraction conduit (58) for extracting the slurry (54), and conveying it to a slurry/water pipe (66). A jet spray mechanism (62) is provided including a deluge (62D), and a water spray (62W) for spraying water into the deluge (62D) to supply the slurry/water pipe (66) with clean water. A waste water storage tank (68) with a filter (74) is coupled to the slurry/water pipe (66).
