A switchable valve gear (1), comprising a drag lever (2) that is impinged upon by a cam (9), whereby the end (3) of said drag lever is mounted on a supporting element (6). An axially displaceable pressure piston (5) is accommodated in the housing (10) of the supporting element (6) and can be decoupled from the housing using coupling means (21), whereby the gas exchange valve (8) in question remains shut and the drag lever (2) performs a pivoting movement around one end of said gas exchange valve. Blocking means (18) are provided inside the pressure piston (5) in order to avoid faulty switching of the coupling means (21). Said blocking means cooperate with impinging means (32) that are integrated into the drag lever for direct displacement of the coupling means (21) in the transition area of one end of a contact of a run-off flange at the beginning of a contact of the base circle of the cam (9) to the drag lever (2) and block said displacement by means of a totally different contact of the base circle. The blocking action is dependent upon the pivoting angle of the drag lever (2).
