The seat or backrest cushion has a changeable case having a cover section of inelastic textile material on the visible side and an elastic tensioning tape (14) attached to the edge of the cover section. On the free inner edge (40) of the tensioning tape is a rubber-like tensioning band (16). Preferably, the cover section is attached to the outer edge of the tensioning tape by a peripheral seam which is preferably oversewn. The tape is of a highly elastic textile stretch material and defines an oval or circular opening on the back of the cushion.
