This invention describes the synthesis and study of a new morpholine derivative with antioxidant, hypocholesterolaemic and hypolipaemic action. The new morpholine derivative is 2-hydroxy-2-diphenyl-5,6- tetramethylene-4-methyl morpholine hydrochloride 1 which is synthesised from 2-bromo-4-phenyl-acetophenone and 2- methylaminocyclohexanol. Formula 1. The new compound lowers total plasma cholesterol levels by 54%, total plasma triglyceride levels by 49% and plasma LDL- cholesterol levels by 51%. The new compound has powerful antioxidant properties. Offering such properties, the new compound should be capable of effective use in treating hypercholesterolaemia, hyperlipidaemia and arteriosclerosis. |
