<p>A magnetic recording medium comprising a magnetic layer and a backing layer respectively on surfaces of a non-magnetic support which are opposite to each other, and a coating material for forming the backing layer. The backing layer is formed from the coating material containing a fatty acid salt having 5 to 11 carbon atoms with therefor a transition metal, a dispersant, a binder, and a filler. The backing layer provides improved properties, such as increased durability, smoothness of surface, electric conductivity, and light shielding.</p> |
