The valve lifter (19) has a cylindrical outer surface (19a) with a central axis (Ae), which is offset relative to the central axis (Ai) of a holder chamber (27) for a valve shaft end (18e). A projection (19b) is positioned on the outer surface in a thick-walled section (19j), where the distance between the outer surface and the holder chamber is at a maximum due to the offset (D1). The chamber is cylindrical and the thick-walled section is formed by eccentric arrangement of the inner surface (19f) of the valve lifter relative to the outer surface.
