The engine has several oil circuits (3), and at least one of these is connected to the oil reservoir (4) via a mixing chamber (9) and suction tube (6) only. The suction tube contains a valve (7), which is controlled dependent upon the pressure ratios generated by the oil pump (2). The valve has a cylinder (16) and a piston (15) dividing it into two working chambers (17,18). The piston is actuated by the pressure differential between pressure side and intake side of the pump.
