The electronic key (1) has a receiver unit and a transmitter unit for transmitting an identification signal (14) when a stimulation signal (13) is received. To prevent the transmission of an identification signal the power supply for the key can be interrupted by a switch mounted on the key. A signal generator in the key can emit a warning when a stimulation signal is received. Independent claims are also used for a method of securing an electronic key and an arrangement for triggering and/or activating/deactivating a security arrangement.
