摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hydrogen storage alloy which enables high rate discharge (high output) of a battery when it is put to practical use as the negative electrode of the battery. SOLUTION: This hydrogen storage alloy is composed of an Ni-base alloy having a compsn. consisting of by weight, 32-38% rare earth elements composing primarily La and/or Ce, 0.1-17% Co, 0.1-3.5% Al, 0.5-10% Mn, 0.005-0.2% hydrogen and the balance Ni with inevitable impurities and having a texture in which a Ce2Ni7 type crystal structure phase and hydrides of the rare earth elements dispersed and distributed in the matrix of a CaCu5 type crystal structure phase. The ratio of the Ce2Ni7 type crystal structure phase is 1-40% area and the ratio of the hydrides account is 0.5-30% area in the ratio occupied in the entire texture.
