PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and apparatus for producing a steel cord by which the productivity is improved by installing a lot of flyers to impart multiple twist. SOLUTION: This apparatus for producing a steel cord comprises a supplying part, the first twisting part, the second twisting part, an over-twister 13, a correcting tool 15, and a winder 17. The supplying part guides a plurality of metallic filaments 1 wound up on bobbins, and doubles and supplies the filaments 1. The first twisting part provides the first twist to the two supplied metallic filaments 2 by rotating a couple of flyers 9 and 10 between a couple of turning rollers 11 and 12. The second twisting part reversely rotates flyers 9 and 10 between another couple of turning rollers 11 and 12 to provide the second twist thereto. The over-twister 13 stabilizes the released cord. The correcting tool 15 finishes the final cord into a straight line. The winder 17 winds up the produced cord. The method for producing the steal cord is also provided.
