PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a safe and highly effective apoptosis-inducing agent having an apoptosis-inducing action and an apoptosis induction-reinforcing action and useful as an agent for preventing or treating cancers, etc., by using a specific quinoline derivative. SOLUTION: This apoptosis-inducing agent contains a quinoline derivative of formula I A is N or C; B is C=O or (CH2)m [(m) is 0-3] which is a direct bond; C is a group of formula II (R1-R3 are each H or phenyl) or the like} or its biologically acceptable salt, for example, dl-5-[3- 4-(2,2-diphenylacetyl) piperazin-1-yl}-2-hydroxypropyl]quinoline fumarate. The apoptosis-inducing agent is preferably administered, for example, at a daily dose of 1-2,000 mg with one to several portions as the quinoline derivative.
