PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a carbon sliding material having a long life and high load resistant power, suitable as a carbon blade (carbon vane) especially for a vacuum pump and to provide a method for producing the carbon sliding material. SOLUTION: This carbon sliding material uses a carbon material having specific gravity and flexural strength in a range of a quadrangle obtained by connecting four points of coordinates (a) (1.55, 400), coordinates (b) (1.55, 600), coordinates (c) (1.75, 600) and coordinates (d) (1.75, 800) in a graph in which specific gravity is taken in the axis of abscissas (X-axis) and flexural strength (kgf/cm2) measured in accordance with JCAS-10-1968 is taken in the axis of ordinates (Y-axis) in a test piece of a rectangular prism with 10 mm thickness, 10 mm width and 50 mm length. This method for producing the carbon sliding material comprises heating and kneading raw materials comprising a coke-based artificial graphite having 6.78-7.78 Å distance C0(002) between graphite lattices and a binder, grinding, molding and burning the molding product. |
