PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To produce a titanium-contg. silica mesoporous body having high photocatalytic activity. SOLUTION: The titanium-contg. silica mesoporous body is obtd. by the isomorphous substitution of titanium atoms for 1-6 mol.% of the silicon atoms in a silica mesoporous body. An acidic aq. soln. is added to a liq. mixture of an Si alkoxide, a Ti alkoxide and a 1-n-alkylamine to form fine particles of a composite consisting of titanium, silicon and the 1-n-alkylamine and the fine particles are separated from the resultant suspension, dried and fired. By this firing, the 1-n-alkylamine in the fine particles is decomposed and removed and the titanium-contg. silica mesoporous body is produced. The objective photocatalyst comprises the titanium-contg. silica mesoporous body. |
