PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily and positively position a work material, and easily detect whether a mounted attitude of the work material is normal or abnormal. SOLUTION: In a method for detecting an attitude of a work material AM in a positioning device, which is structured to position the work material AM by inserting a positioning pin 351 into an insertion hole 211 of the work material AM, and inserting a pressing part 361 in a hold-down recessed part 221 to press it, the height-position of the pressing part 361 is designed to be different from each other when the work material AM is installed on the positioning pin 351 in a normal attitude and when the work material is installed on the positioning pin in an abnormal attitude. Thus, the abnormal attitude can be detected by detecting the height-position of the pressing part 361 during positioning operation.
