PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To compress empty cans with small power even at a simple structure reduce the space for storage, transfer, and the like at the time of empty can recovery, and reduce a recycling cost of empty cans resource by applying the pressure to a center part which is fragile to the compression force because of strength construction of the empty cans. SOLUTION: As an outer presser is applied to a center part C of an empty can A by a compression tool B, upper ends of a top (a) and a bottom b of the empty can A are folded towards the center part C in a manner to cover the compression tool B, whereby the empty can A is compressed. As a portion d of the compression tool B where the pressure is directly applied to the empty can A crushes the center part C of the empty can A, the top (a) and the bottom b of the empty can A are folded in a manner to cover the portion d where the pressure is directly applied to the empty can A, whereby the empty can A is compressed. After the empty can A is compressed, the portion d of the compression tool B nipped between the top (a) and the bottom b of the empty can A, and a portion e for transmitting the pressure to the portion d are slid, so that the empty can A and the compression tool B can be separated.
