PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify the structure of the primary treatment vessel and to stably support a disinfection cylinder while disinfecting suitably the water discharge, at the time of performing emergency water discharge from a primary treatment vessel, in the septic tank. SOLUTION: This septic tank is provided with: a primary treatment vessel 1 into which water to be treated is charged; and a secondary treatment vessel 2 for performing secondary treatment such as aeration treatment, of primary- treated water which is subjected to primary treatment in the treatment vessel 1 and transferred to the secondary treatment vessel 2; wherein the primary vessel 1 is provided with an emergency water discharged port 3 consisting of a water discharge pipe 5 the lower surface 4 of which is formed into a flat face, and a disinfection cylinder 7 is fitted to a hole 6 that is formed in the upper surface of the water discharge pipe 5 through its pipe wall, in such a way as to be inserted into and extend through the hole 6.
