PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a machine for processing onions for shipping. SOLUTION: This onion processing machine is equipped with a root-cutting device 4 above a transfer passage through which onion roots are sent upward, comprising a cutting head 4a positioned above a transfer device, supported via a supporting arm 42 in such a way that it can rock vertically and is pushed downward by a spring 43, and having rotary cutting blades 50 rotating on a driving axis 45a which extends in the direction perpendicular to the onion 8 transfer direction, wherein the rotary cutting blades 50 are positioned at both sides of a rotary plate 46, and attached to the cutting/driving axis 45a for the rotary cutting blades 50, while slightly slanted outward relative thereto, so that the rotary plate 46 monolithically rotates with the cutting/driving axis 45a, and following plates 47a and 47b are positioned nearby, alternating with the rotary cutting blade 50.
