PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a matal V-belt capable of properly maintaining the inter- element clearance and satisfying the requirement of anti-pitching performance. SOLUTION: The tolerance Cto of the total clearance Ct obtained as the sum of the clearance Cs at no-load standstill and the clearance Ch generated originating from the Hertz stress is decided to a value below the height (h) of a male coupling 28, while the toleranceσhmo of the max. Hertz stress acting on a rocking edge 26 is decided to a value below the upper limit valueσho of the Hertz stress meeting the requirement of the anti-pitching lifetime, wherein the radius of curvature R of the rocking edge is set within the range for satisfying R1<=R<=R2, where R1 is the radius of curvature decided complying with the toleranceσhmo of the max. Hertz stress, while R2 is the radius of curvature decided complying with the tolerance Cto of the total inter-element clearance.
