摘要 PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance the durability of an assembly of metal rings by preventing a metal element from inclination relative to the ring assembly. SOLUTION: A belt for continuously variable transmission is arranged so as to satisfy the condition L/t<=FL/2FV, where FV represents a tangential friction force which the pulley abutting surface 37 of a metal element 32 receives from a pulley, L is the radial distance from the acting point 45 of the tangential friction force to a rocking edge 40 positioned outside in radial direction of the acting point 45, FL is the load directed inward in radial direction which the metal element 32 receives from an assembly 31 of metal rings, and (t) is the thickness of the metal element 32. Even if a moment of FV×L acts on the metal element 32 owing to the friction force FV, the moment FV×L is canceled with a moment FL×(t/2) generated by the load FL with which the ring assembly 31 presses the edge (a) of a ring slot 35, and it is possible to prevent the metal element 32 from inclining.
