PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a document from dropping from a loading means by providing an auxiliary tray supporting a rear end of the document when the document is a large size exceeding the length of the loading means and standing or storing the auxiliary tray by a signal of a size detection means. SOLUTION: By rotatively mounting an auxiliary tray 28 on an outer package 2a of an upper part of an automatic document feeding device 2 with a shaft 28a as a center, connecting the vicinity of the shaft 28a to a solenoid 79 to be a driving means and rotating the auxiliary tray 28, the auxiliary tray 28 can be stood at an inclined angleθ. When a tension spring 39 is mounted on a rear surface of the auxiliary tray 28, the auxiliary tray 28 is energized in the direction that the auxiliary tray 28 is stored and driving of the solenoid 79 is turned off, the auxiliary tray 28 is stored in the outer package 2a by elasticity of the tension spring 39. The auxiliary tray 28 is stored by turning off the solenoid 79 when the document P is fed from a closed loop path, and the auxiliary tray 28 is stood by turning on the solenoid 79 when a switch back is used and the document P is fed.
