PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cosmetic sample which can retain a design pattern without causing offset or a stain irrespective of a simple structure and varieties of samples, in which the single unit usage of a cosmetic is sufficiently obtained, which is provided with an application member and is made at low cost, and for which a method of use is also easy. SOLUTION: This cosmetic sample has a cosmetic, whose picture is printed on a transparent or semitransparent film overlay 1, and a slurry 2 of a solvent. This film overlay 1 includes an opaque portion, which is printed with a negative of a desired pattern 10 or a design, on a face opposite to a face of the cosmetic, and hence a display window 8 for displaying the sample 2 is formed. A protecting lining material 4 is sealed to the film 1, and it is designed so as to cover the sample 2. This protecting lining material 4 further has an application member material 6 provided on a face thereof, which is directed to the sample side, and this application member material functions as a built-in application member. Such an individual sampler contains the amount of a product, which is sufficient for the single unit usage of a cosmetic, and can be used for sampling cream, a lipstick, a perfume, a preparation, lotion, and other high viscous wax-like materials.
