PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To properly activate an occupant crash protection device, depending on the collision status of a vehicle and the severity of a collision. SOLUTION: This activation control device is equipped with dash sensors 30A and 30B laid at preset positions within a vehicle for detecting the severity of a shock applied to the vehicle, and a horizontal G-sensor 32 laid aft of the dash sensors 30A and 30B at a preset position within vehicle for detecting the collision status of the vehicle. In addition, the device is equipped with an activation control part 40 for controlling the activation of an air bag device 36 on the basis of an output signal from the dash sensors 30A and 30B, and the horizontal G-sensor 32.
