PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a new compound having an ICAM-1/LFA-1 bond inhibitive activity, useful as a biochemical or pharmacological reagent for resolving an ICAM-1/LFA-1 adhesion route, and useful for the prophypaxis and treatment of an inflammatory disease e.g. asthma or rheumatism. SOLUTION: This compound has the following physicochemical properties: Form; colorless and amorphous, Molecular weight and formula; 391.46 and C21H29NO6, Melting point; 86 to 88 deg.C, Optical rotation; [α]25,D+43.6 deg., Rf value; 0.21 (CHCl3:CH3OH=5:1, acetic acid 0.1%). The compound is obtained by cultivating the microorganism (FERM P-16829), capable of producing the compound and belonging to the genus Streptomyces, in a nutrient medium at 25 to 30 deg.C for 3 to 5 days, and by recovering the objective compound from the medium or cell bodies. |
