PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To optimize the heat radiation from a plasma thruster while cooling coils inside and outside with heat conductivity by forming a mechanical support part for thruster in a structural base made of the material having excellent conductivity, and separately providing an axial magnetic core, an outside pole member and an inside pole member. SOLUTION: A close type electron drift plasma thruster has an annular channel 124 formed by a temperature insulating wall 122, and a hollow cathode 140 is arranged outside of the annular channel 124. An annular anode 125 is formed into a truncated cone, and a wall of this annular anode 125 is formed with a hole part 120 to be filled with the ionized gas from a manifold 127. Discharge between the anode 125 and the cathode 140 is controlled by a magnetic circuit having a first outside pole member 134 connected to a second outside pole member 311 through plural magnetic cores 137. The magnetic circuit also has a first inside pole member 135 connected to a second inside pole member 351 through a central axial magnetic core 138.
