PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a substructure of an automatic transmission, which has good assembling easiness while the section area of the passage in the suction port of an oil strainer is well secured. SOLUTION: A control valve assembly 12 is installed on the undersurface 11a of the body 11 of the automatic transmission, and an oil pan 6 covering the lower body undersurface part 5a of the assembly 12 is installed at a certain spacing in between, and a suction port 8 of an oil strainer 7 is formed in the undersurface of the lower body 5. In this substructure of automatic transmission, bolts 15 for mounting of the oil strainer are installed upright on the lower body undersurface 5a in positions adjacent to the suction port 8, and a collar 19 is set between the bolt head 15b and a bolt seat 16 formed on the lower body 5.
