PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate the work for making a borderless tatami mat by forming two melted grooves on a tatami facing with a space according to the thickness of a tatami bed by use of a heating iron in the right-angled direction to a plastic artificial rush or in parallel to the edge of the tatami bed, bending the tatami facing along the melted grooves before or after cooling the melted grooves, and fixing it along the tatami bed. SOLUTION: Two melted grooves 3 are formed on a tatami facing 2 formed by weaving a plastic artificial rush with a space according to the thickness of a tatami bed 1 in the right-angled direction to the rush or in parallel to the edge of the tatami bed 1 by use of a heating iron. The tatami facing 2 is bent along the melted grooves 3 before or after the melted part is perfectly cooled, and fixed along the tatami bed 1. Since the bending is extremely facilitated by providing the two melted grooves 3 on the plastic rush tatami facing 2 difficult to bend at the edge, and the curve of the folding line peculiar to plastics is eliminated, the work for making a borderless tatami mat can be extremely facilitated.
