PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the weight and manufacture cost of working machines, particularly of their drive unit. SOLUTION: A drive unit includes in its metallic chassis portion 4 a crack chamber 3 as one of two crankcase halves, and a flange surface 8 in a plane substantially perpendicular to a crankshaft axis 2. The flange surface 8 is at least partly defined by an exposed end of the crank chamber 3. A fan case 10 of plastics is disposed in place so that its bottom 11 butts against the flange surface 8.
